Bogdan - Gdansk, post no 1

17th of July - 30th of July Report– Bogdan Radu, Marek Kamiñski Foundation, Gdansk, Poland

I) I will start my report with the description of my responsibilities in the organisation, my tasks and my work until now:

1st week: 17th of July – 21st of July

My first week at Marek Kamiñski Foundation was focused mainly on getting acquainted with the organisational environment, getting to know the Organisation itself (history, purpose, perspectives) and also I was presented the Baby on Board project – the project I will be working on for the next 3 months.

At the same my first days at this workplace meant also my first responsibilities. One of the first responsibilities was to contact some Saami Families from Norway. Then I did the same thing with the Amish Families from United States of America and I also made a list of possible collaborators from United Kingdom.

Another task I had to fulfil was to create the content for the web-site concerning general data about the countries that are about to be visited during the Baby on Board project. I finished this task in the last days of the week when I also made a list with some international Chains of Hotels and Travel Agencies that also have offices in Poland and contacted them at the same time.

2nd week: 24th of July – 28th of July

I started my week with collecting tourist information for the 20th countries targeted for the Baby on Board – attractions, tourist destinations, unexplored places, etc.

I also started to work on the Product Sheet with the description of the Baby on Board project – creating at the same time a new template to be used for the project’s/organisation’s general documents. I created at the same time a Sponsor’s Sheet, which also contains a short description of the Marek Kamiñski Foundation.

This week I started to target and to contact Mormon (LDS Church members) persons from Utah, United States. I also contacted some other UK representatives of the upper class for collaboration. I received some positive answers from a Mormon Organisation and from a District Representative from United Kingdom.

***

II) Concerning the accommodation – I stay at a student hostel from Gdansk.

The Reception and the Servicing of AIESEC Gdansk UG does not meet the International Exchange Quality Policies and Standards but considering that they have few members in the Local Committee and the Executive Board was on vacation I can say that this fact is understandable.

I was present at the Reception Week organised by Local Committee Kielce between 29th of July and 30th of July.

No major problem occurred during my first 2 weeks of stay in Gdansk, Poland.

Salut Corinutza :)

Hello!
This is the second week in Athens! I has a wonderful time ..and as the majority of the Romanian people said..we visited a lot of places around here..I won't mention them all. I love Greece..and the people..I am still wanting to learn the language..but I found nothing yet :( Most of the AIESEC people from here are in holiday..and that's hoe it will be at work for the month of August when is the hottest month of the year and everyone leaves Athens.
I work at EKKE (National Center of Social Research)..and by the end of our time here we need to write a report..some kid of a research journal..so we need to do a lot of study for that.
The apartment that we have is a little bit expensive for the conditions that we have...but we'll get through it!
That is it..for now!
Take care!

Salutare dragele mele,
Sefa m-a luat ca practicant in special pt aceasta sesiune.
Diana

Alexandra - Warsaw, post no 1

Hello!

This is suposed to be a more or less official report on my first two weeks here in Poland so I will start with the begining.
Me and the other 8 roumanian arrived in Warsaw on the 16th of July with the Leonardo da Vinci Project. The others left for the cities where they have their trainship and I remained in Warsaw and since then I started my adventure here.
The first two days I was trying to get some basic informations on how to get arround Warsaw, how to get to work, how to buy something to eat and stuff like that.
I started work on Wednesday the 19 July in MONAR here in Warsaw. I am working on fund-raising and for the moment I am doing a research on grants to see for which ones we can apply, and also gathering informations and all the necesary paperwork in order for us(MONAR) to be ready for writing grant applications to the foreign funds. The only bad thing for the moment is that most of the persons that are working with me don't speak too much english so to say and to have around you all the time people that speak a foreign language that you do not really understand is a bit stange.
Also in the street is very difficult to find a person that can understand english and ocasionally speak english from the older people , but from the young ones you can find enough that could point you in the right direction if you get lost for example.
For the moment everything is going well only that the data gathering is a beat slow because some of the people in MONAR are still on vacation but from the next week they will start to come back to work and then everything will be moving faster.
That would be all from work: researching.
I also got to know something more about MONAR and the way it works, it's projects, to whom are they adressed to, how are they getting the funding for their actions and programs.
More informations about my work and my new tasks in the next report.
Now about AIESEC Reception here in Warsaw, I could say that I am happy with the way that I was receved and involved in their activities for the moment mostlly reception for other trainees comming to Poland. They also showed me around Warsaw and went to the movies and siteseeing. For them also this is a slow time because of the summer vacations.
This last week-end I have been to the Reception Week-end organized in Kielce and the area around it. I went there by train with the reception coordinator from AIESEC Warsaw University.
The first night there we spent it in a dormitory outside Kielce and the second one in a camping and between the moving we visited a lot of castles and palaces in ruin and a cave.
It was a great oportunity to meet the other trainees from different LCs in Poland and also the other roumaniens.
Now I am bach to my job starting a new week.
And for the moment that would be all.
Maybe if I forgot something I will write about it in the next report.

Kisses!

Andy - Olsztyn, post no 1

Hy girls. How are you?

There're been 2 weeks since I'm in Olsztyn, far away from my family/friends/traditional food. But I'm ok.

With the accomodation I had no problems, we rented a room in a pink house ( @ Olstyn rented for us before we arrived here). It feels like home .

We (me, Lia and Cori) are the only trainees in Olstyn at this time, so we gathered all the attention of @ members. In the first week, they took us to a walk, shopping or in a club every day. So, we have a real Aiesec Reception.

At work all our colleagues speak English, so we have no problem to communicate with them. Our foundation is involved in a EU Project and I work on this one (research on internet, presentations, some reports ... ).

I have my own office, with a computer, full access to Internet (like was written in the JD). If a need help, I have to ask someone from the foundation and they help me. I work in a young team and they are very open to show me if I don't know something.

I've learnt to do a Activity Report (time sheets for personnel) and some other materials for the SEBco project.

There was no big problems during those 2 weeks, just the normal cultural socks: at the bank we couldn't take Euro cash from the office, polish drivers are speed maniacs, polish people don't eat bread with soup and some others. But I can live with that. Hope so ...

Kisses and hugs from the warmy Poland

Roxana - Wroclaw, post no 1

Hello!

My first 2 weeks here in Poland were great despite the problems occurred. I am going to write every thing step by step...
1.Activities taken in the organization
This 2 weeks my job was to learn everything about The Cultural, Sportive and Touristic Center in Radkow this being the organization that I work. The thing here are not very good but the new director told me about his plans of rebuilding the area so that it will bring tourist in summer but also in the winter time. So a few months ago tougether with a similar organization from Czech Republic they applied for a grant offered by the European Union to reestablish the area of the Sudety Mountains. They obtained the grant and now they start the rebuilding process:
- a sand beach for the lake;
- reconstruction of the children's camp;
- a center with computers with soft programs and Internet for young people from Radkow to study informatics and English and to develop;
- a place for biathlon competition in the winter time;
- and the reestablishment of the old monuments and churches.
The main thing is to make a area that attracts tourist all over the world and to develop the local civil society making it a profitable one and helping the young people to develop.
For this 2 weeks my tasks here were to get to know the Radkow area and the places around so I was visiting a lot of catholic churches, the spas with mineral water, the museums with traditional things, the mountains and the ruins of castles in the area. I have to say that it was great. The places are beautiful and after the reestablish I am sure that will attract hundreds of tourist.
Starting this week I will be involved in creating presentation materials and establish contacts with young people from Romania in order to create a permanent cultural exchange.

2. AIESEC activities taken in the LC

In fortunately I wasn't involved in any activities in the Wroclaw LC because I live and work in Radkow and the only time that I can go in Wroclaw is during the weekends. Until now there were 2 weekends, one I was in Wroclaw visiting the city and the other one I was in Kielce at the Reception Weekend. Radkow is not very far from Wroclaw but it it very difficult to get there (I need to take a bus from Radkow to Klodzko for an hour and from Klodzko I have to take a train for other 2 hours, so 3 hours on the rod plus 1 hour waiting for the train). I must say that I am not very happy about that because I was hoping to be part of the Wroclaw LC activities and I have to spend a lot of money on the rod.
3. Working conditions
About this subject I have to say that I am a little disappointed. I was told in my job description that I would have my one computer with all the programs that I need and with Internet connection but I don't have. There are only 2 computers here with Internet but they are for people working here and I only have access once or twice a week to check my e-mails and to update my report. That is way I am writing the mail today. No computer was available yesterday. Until now that was OK because I was going to all this places that I had to know very well but now I need to do some researcher and I don't know how I can't do that.
The director is on a holiday for this week. HE IS THE ONLY ONE THAT SPEAKS ENGLISH AND NO ONE ELSE IN THE ORGANISATION SPEAKS ENGLISH and I can't communicate with them.
Another thing is that before coming here I talked with them to send me information about the place here and in the pictures that they send me there were places from this area but they don't belong to this organization so when I arrived here I was disappointed at the beginning. I am not sad about this because the project that they have to develop this region is relay great I want to help as much as possible and learn about this and be part of developing the society.
This week is going to be very hard because of the communication problems but next week the director will return and I will be working directly with him and that is going to be great.
4.Reception conditions
I have only good things about reception conditions. The AIESEC in Wroclaw is relay great. They waited for me at 2 in the morning (when I arrived in Wroclaw). When I go to Wroclaw in weekends I am staying in the AIESEC apartment which is great. My buddy, Stefan, showed me Wroclaw, he is always calling to see if I am OK, he helps me with all the information that I need. The other people from AIESEC are also great. In the firs weekend we went out. It was a welcome party, we had also a movie night. We saw "Friends" with the others trainees in Wroclaw (a girl from Germany and a boy from New Zealand).
In Radkow I am staying with a family. They are so nice to me and their girl speaks English very well so I have no problem communicating with them. I have my one room, my on bathroom, I love the house because it is a mountain house with 2 levels and a great view to the mountains.
5.Problems occurred
The problems occurred are the ones that I tell in the working conditions. I have not meet the TN manager yet because he is in Turkey but I will talk to him as soon as he comes back.
That is all for my first 2 weeks!

salut,

fundatia unde lucrez are 11 angajati...mica, mica dar are la activ parteneriate in proiecte europene cofinantate de uniune....

in caminul unde locuiesc (et 4, camera 404 - asta in caz ca vreti sa veniti pe neanuntate)<>

Lia - Olsztyn, post no 1

Hello,

It's my second week of work in Poland.
The reception was good, also the accomodation. Congrats to LC Olsztyn!!!

I work for the Foundation for Local Democracy in Poland (FDRL). The
working hours are 9.00 to 15.00; actually the schedule is very flexible.

The working conditions are very good, I have everything I need for the
project and the colleagues are very friendly and helpful.
The Foundation is the largest non-governmental organization in Poland
which supports the development of local governance and targeted at local
government staff and councilpersons, NGO representatives, journalists,
teachers, youth, employees of small and medium enterprises and also
individuals who are unemployed or face the threat of unemployment. The
foundation extended its activities beyond the borders of Poland,
especially in the developing countries.
My mission is to facilitate partnerships between the Foundation for Local
Democracy and NGOs in Romania.

During these two weeks I got accustomed to the structure, work and
regulations of the organization. I've got info about the FDRL's main
projects and activities and also about the activities and projects of
other NGO's in Olsztyn. I studied materials about the path of development
of the civil society movement in Poland and the differences that exist
between the civil society in Romania and Poland.

I followed up the FRDL's main projects to understand its objectives. Based
on the knowledge I gathered about FDRL I made a detailed management
plan that will both help me and the Foundation meet our expectations and
achieve our goals related to this internship and further.

There were no major problems. What I didn't like at all is that we, Leonardo trainees, didn't receive receipts for the Reception Weekend in Kielce. We need them to justify our cultural expenses.

Have a nice week,
Lee

Salut Corina
Dupa cum stii, eu si Mihaela locuim impreuna, lucram impreuna, motiv pt care trimitem un singur mail, caci facem acelasi lucru.
We arrived with the airplaine,on sunday and the AIESEC people received us, it was a warm welcome.. We went to our apartment, on Derigny Street and it was a nice surprise, because we like the place we are living in. In the next days, a member of AIESEC showed us the surroundings ( supermarkets, bus/metro stations, how to get to work, how to get to the beach, to the places that we wanted to visit....)
Our first day at SCI Hellas ( the NGO we are working in) was wednesday,19th July, at this meeting we talked about our Job Description, the people who we are working with, the persons who will help us, about the organization.
In these tree months,we will work together at the :
I newsletter
II web site
III branding, promotional campaign;
Last week, we did a research on : SCI Hellas activities and it's competitors, websites. We established the next steps and tasks in a meeting we had with our coordinator-Yota,our colleague Rigas and our "boss" Adonis- a really nice guy ,smart and open minded and he really showed interest in finding out our opinion regarding different aspects of branding the organization- great!!!!!
We visited a lot of famous places, in Athens - Acropolis, Temple of Zeus, Ancient Agora, Roman Agora, Lycavitous, Monastiraky....let us tell you about the party and about the picnic we had yesterday with AIESEC people-really fun.
We would to emphasis the fact THAT WE REALLY WANT TO LEARN GREEK but until now we could not find the opportunity...let's hope we will have succes in out next attempts.
We have to go right now,
keep in touch
bye bye

Codruta - Prague, post no 1

In primele zile my boss - Jiri Silny mi-a descris activiatatea lor, proiectele in derulare si cele viitoare.
Ne auzim la urmatorul interviu....Mo ai legatura in tara.
Pup,
Codruta

a Romaniei

o problema pana acum in ceea ce ii priveste.
non-stop.

diferente intre cele doua popoare, dar m-am obisnuit
si cu micile lor ciudatenii:)

Traind experienta vietii ei in Praga, semnat
